Types of Laminators and IDSupply.com

After doing research, it was apparent that I needed a laminator
however, when I went to Office Depot to go pick one up I realized that
there are both cool and heat laminators. The heated ones were no
cheaper than $80 so that made me turn to the 30 dollar cool laminator
however I was not sure of the return policy and so decided to ask here
first. Will the cheaper cool laminator suffice if i'm using teslin
(inkjet if it matters) along with the 10 mil butterfly thermal pouches?
And if it doesnt is there a cheaper (than 80 preferably) heat laminator
model you might suggest which I can find online?

Secondly, has anyone had any experience with www.IDSupply.com? I plan
to purchase teslin and pouches from there and just wanted a second
opinion or any info anyone has heard from them.

Lastly, instead of buying the more expensive pouches with the magstrip
in it already, I was wondering if there is something I can put in place
of it that would look like a magstrip but obviously not hold any
information seeing as I have no reader/writer for it. I was thinking of
VCR tape but as I thought about it, it might be too brown to use.

Thanks in advance and if you want to try and catch me on aim to help or
anything, that'd be great. AIM: MoogahManiac

yo. first off you need a heat laminator, not a cool laminator. dont use
idsupply.com use www.brainstormidsupply.com or www.holosupplies.com
they have a lot of good stuff at good prices. For a decent laminator
look at the heatseal h100 , for a professional laminator, for making a
bulk amount of ids look at the pl4a. (google search it)

Also, just buy butterfly pouches with the magnetic strip, there is no
point in going the cheap way and using VCR tape or like electric tape.
No matter what your ids will look like shit and you will constantly be
getting aggravated.

Soo go to brainstormidsupply, get your teslin and pouches there and
use froogle to find a decent laminator.

Hey, thanks alot, the website seems to be a much better alternative to
IDSupply.

As for for the laminator I like the PL45 offered there or the heatseal
h100, the only problem is that the PL45 does not list the max thickness
a pouch can be, and the h100 only goes to 5 mil. I also plan on using
the 10 mil teslin. Can I disregard these specifications and still use
the machines to laminate or am I forced to buy a more expensive one?

Lastly, as far as holograms go, an alternative to using the photo-ez
stencil some people printed the stencil first, sprinkled special dust
on the wet ink, then reprinted over to make decent looking holograms.
Can this method be used with Laser Teslin? I'm using an epson printer
with DuraBrite ink. Thanks again in advance.

you dont photoez stencil the holo onto the teslin, only on the inside
of the pouch. and the h100 can take more than 5mil, trust me.. it is a
good laminator that can prob go up to 30 mil

got epson printer, R300 or 2200 are good. Anything R300+ is good
too

I know, i'm not talking about photo-ez. Im talking abtut a different
method where you use regular ink instead of hologram stuff. Anyways, I
picked up a Xerox 10" laminator for 40 bucks and it takes up to 18mil
so that should be fine for me. As for the printer, I have a CX6400 and
it's about a year and a half old so hopefully it will work. if not, ill
be forced to go with the inkjet teslin seeing as a have another inkjet
printer in the house.

what ive noticed... when printing UV with a hacked HP ink cart, the ink
soaks in and looks a lot brighter when using inkjet teslin instead of
laser teslin. So making a inkjet holo on teslin might be best using
inkjet teslin. But ive never made holos using that technique, and i was
under the impression that u did the holo on the inside of a pouch like
all the other methods out there, but I must have misunderstood the
tutorial I read on it.
