OK....This is according to The California ABC
http://www.abc.ca.gov/teencorner.html
IF YOU ARE CAUGHT WITH A FAKE ID
the penalty is a minimum $250 fine and/or 24-32 hours of community
service, or a maximum $1,000 fine and/or six months in the county jail,
PLUS...a one year suspension of your driver license. If you don't yet
have one, you'll have to wait an extra year to get one.
Mind you, this is IF you get caught and IF a cop comes to arrest you.
More than likely, for a "remorseful" first time offender, you'll do 24
hours of community service.
In all seriousness, though, it is highly unlikely that you will get
busted in the first place. If your fake looks..well...fake, unless the
clerk or the bartender is a cop, they will probably just tell you to
bug off or confiscate your fake.
So, the moral of this story is not to get caught! If you're going to
make or purchase a fake, be sure it's a good quality one!
