Searched for this and didn't seem to see anything but similar
questions, sort of... Has anyone tried printing holos directly onto
pouches with an alps printer using thier metallic gold or gold foil
cartridges rather than the pearl-ex/clear coat alps meathod? Assuming
the holo desired is mostly gold, this seems like a feasable
alternative, unless it simply prints out something reminiscent of those
gold & silver sharpies, which I guess is basically part of the question
anyway.

Yeah, this was the first thing I tried with my ALPS before I found out
about the Glossy Finish. The gold and silver carts only print as
silver when printed on the reverse side of the pouch. Also, there is
no way to make them lighter or darker. Everything is always 100%
Opacity. The way it works is one side of the tape is foil while the
other side of the tape is like a translucent yellow so when you print
it, it's the goldish color shining through to the foil -- hense, when
you look through the back of the laminate, everything looks silver from
the base of foil. I realize that may sound a little confusing, but
trust me save your money and your pouches, it doesn't work.
