So... My ALPS MD-5000 is broken. I got it from a friend who wasn't
using it anymore and it was pretty shotty to begin with, but it got the
job done. Before I resort to the new inkjet method everyone's been
raving about on the board, I'd like to see if something could be done
about fixing my CR motor. That's the error I keep getting is "CR Motor
Error" and if for once in a blue moon, the printer spools and starts to
print, it jams up on the laminates. I'm doing everything i used to do
before I got this new 5mil shipment from brainstorm (the last set of
5mils was from lamstation) but now it just doesn't seem to work. Any
light that could be shed on the subject would be great. Thanks!

you can send in the printer to Alps and they will refurbish the printer
for you and send it back. Thats all i can think of that you can do,
but you wiill have to shell out like $400 for Alps to fix it for you.
But what they will do is send you another alps that is already
refurbished, so you will basically have a brand new printer in your
hands.

Too late -- the printer started working again and I was able to get a
decent amount of product out of it -- after I'd placed the winning bid
on an MD1000... Now I've got 2 printers, 1 of which I don't need. Ah
well -- guess it's back to ebay for the one.
