Pink ny driver's license uv
(too old to reply)

I have recieved some conflicting information concerning the ultraviolet
security on the, flexible pink, textured New York driver's license. I
have heard 2 different things. One person said that the uv design is a
seal that glows blue exactly above the position of the one on the
front. Another said that it is a larger seal that glows blue on the
back of the license. Perhaps they are both right, perhaps neither is. I
hope someone can clear this up for me.

On a side note, I am having trouble getting PDFCenterSetup.exe to
install. It shows a task bar and says it is installing, but I can't
find an installed copy anywhere on my computer.

Thanks in advance for your help, this is a good, active group. If
anyone needs some more info on a few old school techniques, try
checking out google's cache of Brett Carrera's old board by doing a
search for "carreras.net". Also hit up shadowclub.org for some good
links and some apps and temps (the only real good non-premium one is
new york) on rapidshare.de.

I have a NY license too but I never heard of that. When does it glow,
in the sun light or in any light? I'm not sure whay I'm looking for.

Did you look in the start menu and in add and remove in the control
panel?

It glows under a black light which emits ultraviolet light

there is also a retro-flective state seal pattern on the front. it's
3m technology and despite long hours of searching I can't find any info
as to how it works, or even how to view it other than "by using a
retroflective viewer". this is separate from the UV state seal on the
front.

If it's 3m technology, then I guess someone who works for 3m would be
able to provide the information

i dont understand why people bother with NY ids... no matter what any
real bouncer will know its fake because of a crumble test. A real NY id
can be crumbled up and then after u let go of it it will go back to its
normal state. Doing that to a fake NY id, will just keep the id
crumbled.

That's if you let him take it out of your wallet. I'm well passed
drinking age but there is one occasion when I have to show that I live
somewhere other than my real address. I put the ID in a wallet w. the
little plastic windows. They have to view it like that.

I can only offer second-hand information here. A friend of mine got in
trouble a little while back for having an NY ID that had been chalked
at one point, but was clean at the time. He had chalked it and rubbed
it off a bunch of times, and it apparently looked just fine. A cop
pulled him over, checked it out with *something* (not sure if it was UV
or the retroflective viewer) and could tell that it had been tampered
with. Apparently there is some sort of layer on there that will get
scratched through and show up if you mess with it too much. This is
probably too vague to be of use to anyone, but I think the moral of the
story, like DMV said, is to just stay the hell away from NY IDs.

As I said before, it depends on who you are trying to fool. Of
course, cops and the like are going to be harder.
