Ok, so using warm water and a sponge works great for holo's like cali
where it's large and doesn't have a lot of detail. I've been having
trouble with my VA's though. The VA holo has narrow state outlines of
virginia. When I try with a sponge and warm water, the holo wipes
right off. I've even tried just spraying room temp water onto a paper
towel and dragging it across the pouch. That works better, but by the
time I get enough of the excess pearlex off to be passable, the state
outlines are already starting to fade. Anybody got a better method to
cleaning or a way to prevent the finish coat from washing off? BTW,
double passing with the finish cart works, but even on a good pass, the
cart is slightly off in horizontal alignment (even with everything on
the ALPS setup as good as possible to prevent this), the misalignment
leads to a holo that appears to have lines that are too thick.

Use your fingers to wipe off the pearl-ex -- using any cloth/sponge/etc
to do it pulls off the finish, unlike your fingers would. Not sure
exactly why that is, but it works for me.

It shoudn't just wipe off. Even rubbing somewhat hard it should stay on
fairly well. Use a brush to apply it. That is one thing you must do.
I would suggest not using your fingers. They add oils/grease to
whatever you touch. The less touching with you hands the better. What
mixture are you using for the holos?

Originally I was using 80 Interference Gold / 20 Brilliant Gold which
looked good straight on, but sucked on an angle. I've switched to a
variation on the Cali mix, 70 Interference Gold / 15 Duo YG / 10
Macropearl / 5 Brilliant Gold. Works well.

You have any idea how new the finish carts are that you have?

The one I'm using now no. I was trying to kill it off before using the
one I just got from mps. I'll give the new one a go.
