so i have pouches that i got from brainstorm id, and i have a PL4A
laminator.

i have a decent template and everything was looking good but the finish
product just doesn't feel like a drivers license. its just too smooth
and shiny. is there a better pouch i can get, or should i be using a
different laminator? or do fake ids made by this method normally come
out like this?

Take a new brillo pad (the green pads used to wash dishes) and run
every part of the license for a fair amount of time. This will give it
a somewhat used look, a duller shine, and it will make the texture a
little less smooth. It won't, however, give it a matte finish -- for
that you'll have to use sandpaper. I'm not sure what grade of
sandpaper you should use to make it matte, though.

www.oregonlam.com is where I bought some 10mil Matte pouches... lil
expensive -- 30-something for 100 of them, but they work perfectly if
you're looking for a matte feel. As far as getting the glossy
luster/feel off the ID, I use 400-grit sandpaper I picked up from Home
Depot. Your other option is to order really high 1500-grit art
sandpaper online and use that... It'll probably work better than the
lower-grit paper -- otherwise.... stick to the brillo pad.

lightly scratching the id up with some 1500 grit paper is good.. also
using some ducttape and wearing out your id by puting it into your
wallet between a few cards is good too.
